Job Description

Job Summary: 

The Veterinary Technician/Assistant supports veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to animals. This includes assisting during examinations and surgeries, managing patient records, administering medications, and ensuring the overall well-being of hospitalized and outpatient animals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians during consultations, diagnostic tests, and surgical procedures.
• Prepare animals for surgery and monitor them during anesthesia and recovery.
• Administer prescribed medications, vaccines, and treatments as per veterinary direction.
• Collect samples (blood, urine, feces, etc.) and perform routine laboratory tests.
• Maintain accurate and updated patient records in the clinic management system.
• Provide nursing care for hospitalized animals, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring vital signs.
• Educate pet owners on post-treatment care, preventive healthcare, and nutrition.
• Ensure all surgical instruments and clinic equipment are cleaned, sterilized, and well-maintained.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety protocols within the clinical area.
• Assist in inventory management of medical supplies and consumables.
• Support in emergency situations and provide first aid when necessary.

Requirements:

• Diploma/Degree in Veterinary Nursing or Animal Health Technology (recognized institution).
• Prior experience in a veterinary clinic or hospital preferred.
• Strong animal handling and restraint skills.
• Knowledge of veterinary medications, treatments, and diagnostic tools.
• Compassionate, patient, and detail-oriented.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic computer literacy for record management.
